Only 6 minutes to Mudgee town centre, Bandalong Cottages have 3 self-contained two bedroom cottages surrounded by 33 acres for you to explore open paddocks or relax on your north facing private balcony nestled amongst the bush, watch wildlife that may include kangaroos, deer, goats and whatever else passes through the property. Absorb the sights, sounds and quietness of the bush, experience country living at your own pace, in your own space, in your own time.
The Sykes family purchased Kirima Cottages (KC) in 2017 from Mike & Maggie, who started KC some 20 years ago. We are from convict stock who were pardoned for receiving a stolen barrel of beer and granted land by Governor Macquarie (Goulburn and surrounds remain in the family). It was time for this generation to return to our roots. We live on the property and look forward to welcoming you to Bandalong Cottages to share our experience of what we love about Mudgee and the Australian country.

Tranquil Rural Location
If you love wine and locally grown produce, you’ll be spoilt for choice with cellar doors 2 minutes’ drive from the front gate, and many others scattered within Mudgee. Alternatively, book a wine tour and have the driver pick you up from the front gate.

What time is check-in and check-out?

How far is the airport from Bandalong Cottages?
Approximately 20 minutes by car.
Does a taxi service pick up and drop off at Bandalong Cottages?
Yes, we encourage to you pre-book your taxi at least 60 minutes prior to pick up.
Is the property 'child friendly'?
Yes, children have plenty of space to explore and play games (each cottage has a frisbee and soccer ball to play on open paddocks), but we have a small dam at the bottom of the property and request supervision of children at all times.
Is the property 'pet friendly'?
Yes, we have allocated Kurrajong Cottage for your dog (maximum of 2), so please book early to secure Kurrajong. For the comfort of all guests, please take your dog with you when visiting Mudgee. Please note, we do not have a dog run or fencing on the property, so please ensure supervision at all times, particularly walking your dog (on a lead) for the safety of both your dog and the wildlife.
Do you have reasonable mobile reception?
When you leave the Mudgee CBD, mobile coverage can be challenging. There are some hot spots on the property (including the shop at the front of the property), and guests have said they have coverage in their cottage. For this reason, we are unable to provide WIFI facilities as we're not within tower range. If you require access to a land line please call us.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes, our cancellation policy is strictly adhered to: 14+ days from check in is a full refund. If you are unsure of your travel arrangements consider travel insurance for added protection.
Do you allow GROUP bookings?
Absolutely. Bandalong Cottages is the perfect location for family reunions, celebrations, sporting events, photography groups, yoga get togethers, even weddings (marquee needed), and there are many suppliers in Mudgee who can help. An added benefit is the cottages are close enough to walk between, but far away from each other for your own downtime. We can accommodate 12 adults, 3 children (portable bed), 3 toddlers (portable cot), and would love to work with you regarding use of the property for your function.
What does 'self-contained' mean?
Effectively, you bring your food, beverage, toiletries and personal items, and we provide the rest, including linen, crockery, cooking utensils, microwave, Weber BBQ, stove top and a 22 litre oven. We also include tea (mixed variety), coffee (pods, plunger and instant). Please contact us for a full list of inclusions in your Cottage.
Do you supply wood for the cottage fire?
Yes, we know many guests just want to bunker down and read books, listen to music or watch TV (all supplied in your cottage). Guests really appreciate they can top up their wood from the stack at any time. Please note, fires are not to be lit outside your Cottage or on the property under any circumstances.
How is your linen washed?
For your comfort and safety, we use hotel grade linen that is commercially laundered (Bathurst) and complies with Australian Sanitary Standards to produce a crisp, fresh experience that meet HACCP (food and safety Standards). Do you have laundry facilities? Yes, located in the shop is a washing machine (detergent provided), laundry tub, drying line, iron and ironing board.
Who are your near neighbours?
Hill End Road is considered the ‘quieter end’ of Mudgee and we’re surrounded by farming land (Angus cattle and Merino sheep), cellar doors, and beautiful rolling hills. Our neighbours include Burnbrae Wines, Blacklea Vineyard & Olive Grove, Thistle Hill Wines, Guneemooroo Estate, Mudgee Honey Haven and Mudgee Observatory, who love sharing their produce and stories with Bandalong guests.
